Construction Writers Association Elects 2006-2007 Officers and Directors

(Buffalo Grove, IL) Members of the Construction Writers Association have a new board of directors headed by its new president, Sharon Holling, marketing adminstrator/trade public relations, Caterpillar, Inc., Peoria, IL. Holling previously served CWA as vice president, director, and chair of the CWA Journalism Awards and other committees.
Jack Roberts, a CWA past president who is senior editor of Equipment World, Tuscaloosa, AL, served as nominating committee chair. He presented the slate at CWA's Annual Meeting, held in May in Washington, DC.
Additional officers elected by CWA members are 1st vice president Michael Anderson, editor, Equipment Journal, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and 2nd vice president Brenda Aschliman, director of corporate communications for Walter P Moore, Houston, TX. Anderson has served as a director and as chair of the CWA Marketing Communications Awards program and of the industry relations committee. Aschliman has served as a director, vice-chair of the publicity and promotion committee, and as on-site coordinator for CWA meetings.
Directors elected to two-year terms include: Tina Grady Barbaccia, senior editor of Aggregates Manager, DesPlaines, IL; Karen Courtney, director of marketing and senior associate of BSA LifeStructures, Indianapolis, IN; Jeri Kannenwischer, public relations manager for Ditch Witch in Perry, OK; Judy Schriener, managing online editor, McGraw-Hill Construction, and editor-in-chief, Construction.com, New York NY; and Jeff White, public relations team leader, Two Rivers Marketing, Des Moines, IA. Peter Cannon, media manager for Multiquip Inc. in Carson, CA, was elected to a one-year term as a director.
Continuing on the CWA Board of Directors are past president Jennifer Grover Prokopy, principal of Orange Grove Media, Chicago, IL; executive director Sheila Wertz, principal of Berkshire Consulting Group, Buffalo Grove, IL; and four directors: Tracie Christie, associate director of awards and marketing, National Asphalt Pavement Assn., Lanham, MD; Susan Garritano, public relations manager, McCarthy Building Companies Inc., St. Louis, MO; Greg Sitek, national editor, Reed's Associated Construction Publications, Tuscaloosa, AL; and Bill Wilson, managing editor, Roads and Bridges, Des Plaines, IL.
CWA members also thanked those completing their service on the board - past president Don Marsh, editor of Concrete Products magazine, Chicago, IL, and directors Tony Illia, a freelance writer and ENR correspondent from Las Vegas, NV; Sarah Montezon, now with a law firm, Odin, Feldman & Pittleman PC, Fairfax, VA; and Rick Yelton, editor-in-chief of Concrete Producer and Masonry Construction magazines, Addison, IL.
