CONSTRUCTION WRITERS ASSOCIATION CALLS FOR JOURNALISM AWARD ENTRIES

February, 2005

(BUFFALO GROVE, IL) You may already have a winning entry, but certainly you won't know unless you enter! The Construction Writers Association (CWA) announces that March 25, 2005, is the deadline for entries in its annual Journalism and Photojournalism Awards program. Winners will be recognized at the association's annual meeting May 11-13 in Washington, D.C. For details on how to enter, visit the "awards" section of the association's website at www.constructionwriters.org or call the CWA office for a brochure and application.

New in 2004, the CWA Photojournalism Awards honor photographers who have created photos that are newsworthy, illustrative, informative and/or aesthetically pleasing. Entrants may offer either a single feature photograph or a series of related photographs relevant to the construction industry.

The association annually presents CWA Journalism Awards as follows:

  1. Feature articles on current subjects of general significance to the construction industry and, in particular, to the publication's readers.
  2. Special reports that demonstrate the writer or editor's analytical and interpretive skills on a subject of particular interest to the publication's readers.
  3. Editorials written by a member of the publication's staff. The pieces will reflect the editorial policy of the publication and its role in the construction industry.

CWA requires an entry fee of $75 for the first entry and $25 for each additional entry. Checks should be made payable to the Construction Writers Association. Only CWA members in good standing at the time of entry are eligible; however, entrants may join the association at the time they send their entry. The membership fee is $100 per person.

Construction Writers Association is a nonprofit, non-partisan, international organization for professional journalists, freelancers, photojournalists, marketers and publicists serving the information needs of the construction industry.
