Construction Writers Association Presents Annual Marketing Communications Awards in Chicago

The Construction Writers Association recently presented its second annual Marketing Communications Awards at the organization's mid-year meeting in Chicago. A total of 57 entries in three categories: corporate communications, public relations and advertising, were evaluated by panels of judges on the basis of editorial content, graphic design and effectiveness in achieving the stated marketing goals. Entries were received from associations, advertising agencies, PR firms, large and small contractors, trade associations and publishers.
- The winner in the Corporate Communications - Print category was McCarthy Building Companies for its "McCurrents" employee newsletter.
- Two honorable mentions were awarded in the Corporate Communications - Print category. The first went to Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET) for its "Laborers" marketing brochure. The second honorable mention in the Corporate Communications - Print category went to the National Center for Construction Education and Research for its "Leave Your Mark" campaign
- The winner in the Corporate Communications - Video/Interactive category was AGC of America for its "The Last to Leave" video.
- The judges also awarded an honorable mention in the Corporate Communications category to the Surety Information Office's website, www.sio.org . There were two winners in the Public Relations category. The first award went to the International Safety Equipment Association for its "Partnership for Worker Protection" media outreach campaign.
- The other winner in the Public Relations category was The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) for its Disaster Response Plan in response to the September 11th attacks.
- An honorable mention in the Public Relations category was awarded to J. Rouleau & Associates for "Jan's House of Hope."
- The judges selected two winners in the Advertising category. The first winning entry was Flint Communications' Bobcat ad series campaign.
- The second winner is in the Advertising category was Two Rivers Marketing Group for its Vermeer CONEXPO-CON/AGG Show Daily ad.
- Three honorable mentions were awarded in Advertising. Flint Communications garnered two of them for its Bobcat single ad and for its Bobcat CONEXPO direct mail campaign. The third Advertising honorable mention went to McCarthy Building Companies for its "Genuine McCarthy" ad campaign.
