NEW OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS ELECTED AT 2002 ANNUAL MEETING
Members elected Construction Writers Association 2002-3 officers and directors during the association's annual meeting, held in May in Washington, DC.
Dennis Day, senior director for public affairs of Associated General Contractors of America, Washington DC, was elected 2002-3 president. Jack Roberts, senior editor of Equipment World, Tuscaloosa, AL, was elected first vice president, and Don Marsh, editor of Concrete Products, Chicago, IL, was elected second vice president. Janice Tuchman, editor in chief of Engineering News-Record, New York, NY, remains on the board as immediate past president. Sheila Wertz, principal of Berkshire Consulting Group, Buffalo Grove, IL, continues on the board as executive director.

CWA's 2001-2 President, Jan Tuchman, received a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired clock as a thank you gift from the association. Jan, who is editor-in-chief of Engineering News-Record, will continue on the CWA Board as immediate past president and will also chair the media and public relations subcommittee of the National Construction Image Steering Committee on CWA's behalf.
Alison Carney, marketing manager for Centex Construction Company, Fairfax, VA, was re-elected to the board and will serve for one additional year. Directors elected to two-year terms include Chris Fisher, editor of Construction, Charlotte, NC; Jason Grant, communications manager for the Surety Information Office, Washington, DC: Sharon Holling, marketing administrator for trade public relations, Caterpillar, Inc., Peoria, IL; Kirk Landers, editorial director for James Informational Media, Des Plaines, IL; and Michael J Reilly, principal of Reilly Communications, South Boston, MA.
Directors continuing to serve on the board include: Dan Brown, principal of TechniComm, Des Plaines, IL; Jenni Grover, senior media relations representative for Portland Cement Association, Skokie, IL; ; Jay Lyon, principal of Lyon Communications, Chicago, IL; and Matthew Power, senior editor of Builder magazine, Cumberland, ME.
Board members who are retiring from the board, but who have promised continued involvement in the association, include: Jean Hiller of JCB Inc., Pooler, GA, who will serve as chair of the marketing communications task force; Dan Holohan, president of Heating Help.com, Bethpage, NY; Pam Hunter, news editor of ABC Today, Associated Builders and Contractors, Rosslyn, VA, who will serve on the 2003 annual meeting committee; and Larry Silver, president of Contractor Marketing Ltd., Fairborn, OH. Gordon Wright, editor of Building Design & Construction magazine, Des Plaines, IL, who served as 2000-1 president, will serve as chair of the nominating committee, co-chair for the 2002 midyear meeting, and lead of the newly-forming past presidents' advisory council.
