CWA UNVEILS REVAMPED WEB SITE

July, 2001

The Construction Writers Association (CWA) has revamped its website (www.constructionwriters.org ) to facilitate open communication among professional writers, journalists, editors, and publicists of construction-related media. The new, professionally designed version of the website, www.constructionwriters.org , will be online in July. The site's popular features - links to nearly 100 construction-related sites, news, help wanted postings, and information on the association's awards programs - have been retained and enhanced. A new "members only" section has been added.

Although there are many writers, finding those with knowledge and experience in construction can be very difficult. Employers can focus their search for the ideal candidate by posting on the "Help Wanted" section of the site, a service provided at no charge. The "Industry Links" section is an excellent resource for general information and contact information to associations, companies, freelance writers, and publications of the construction industry. The site also offers those interested in becoming members of CWA the option to apply online.

The new site offers CWA members a free e-mail account, access to the membership directory for key construction press contacts, and a message board to promote correspondence between CWA members on issues and information pertaining to the construction industry.

CWA is dedicated to lending prestige and professional status to specialist editors and writers who cover and report on the news and events impacting the construction industry. Its new website, www.constructionwriters.org, provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information sources among professional journalists and public relations professionals serving the construction industry.

"The marketing communications award program continues this tradition by recognizing an important aspect of construction writers' efforts - communications, including advertising, corporate communications, and public relations," says Wood, who is a past president of CWA and former chair of the association's marketing communications task force. The marketing communications awards will be presented at CWA's midyear meeting, to be held October 5 in Chicago, IL.

Construction Writers Association is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, international organization for professional journalists, writers, editors and publicists serving the information needs of the construction industry. The group strives to provide educational benefits, the opportunity to network, enhanced professionalism in construction journalism, and information resources to its members. CWA's website, www.constructionwriters.org, provides information and links to many construction-related sites to its members and the public.
