2001 Annual Meeting
May, 2001
This year's Annual Meeting featured some terrific speakers and timely topics. We hosted our educational session for CWA members and construction-related associations on Thursday, May 3 for CWA with a media panel discussion which included Martin Tolchin, publisher of The Hill newspaper, Steve Eldridge, radio personality for WTOP News Radio, Kathy Kiely, congressional reporter for USA Today, and Jan Tuchman, editor-in-chief for Engineering News-Record. After the panel discussion, members were treated to tour of the SmithGroup's offices to see how architects and engineers design buildings. Thursday afternoon, the CWA Board of Directors met at the City Club to discuss the accomplishments of the past year and exciting plans for next year. On Thursday evening, CWA hosted its awards dinner. Click here to see a list of this year's winners.
Friday's education session included presentations by Representative Gary Miller of California. Representative Miller is the founder and chair of the Building a Better America caucus; John Scofield, communications director, House Appropriations Committee; Chet Lunner, assistant to the Secretary and director of Public Affairs of the Department of Transportation and Jay Bryson, Ph.D., vice president and global economist, Capital Markets Group of First Union Corporation.
