ENTRY FORMS AVAILABLE FOR CWA JOURNALISM AWARDS
February, 2001
Entry forms are now available for the annual Construction Writers Association (CWA) Journalism Awards. The CWA Journalism Awards are presented annually to individual editors and authors (or a team of editors and authors) who have distinguished themselves through editorial excellence and achievement in the field of construction journalism and through significant contributions in meeting the construction industry's information needs.
The Boger Awards, established in 1971, are named in honor of the late Robert F. Boger, publisher of McGraw-Hill's Engineering News-Record and Construction Methods & Equipment and a founder of CWA. There are three Boger awards: for feature
articles, for special reports, and for editorials.
The T. Randolph Russell Award, established in 1993, honors newsletters - a single issue or a series of related issues covering a single topic. The award honors T. Randolph "Randy" Russell, who worked for the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and edited its weekly newsletter.
The Ned Godfrey Award for Body of Work was established in 1999. The award is intended to honor journalistic and writing ability, demonstrated through a sample of writing from the preceding year. The work may be almost any type of writing - feature, editorial column or newsletter (though news and product sections or advertorials are not eligible) - published in a construction journal, newsletter or magazine. The award honors Kneeland "Ned" Godfrey, a past president of CWA who served in top editorial posts with Civil Engineering and the Institute of Management and Administration and who authored Partnering in Design and Construction for McGraw-Hill prior to his death in 1997.
The deadline for entries is April 2, 2001, and the awards will be presented at CWA's annual meeting dinner in Washington, D.C. Thursday, May 13, 2001. Only CWA members may participate, and new memberships are accepted with entries.
