Construction Writers Association Elects New Board for 2007-8

(Buffalo Grove, IL) Mike Anderson of Markdale, Ontario, was elected president of the Construction Writers Association (CWA) during the organization’s annual meeting in Washington, DC.
Anderson is senior editor for Construction Equipment, a Reed Business Information publication based in Oak Brook, IL. He is the first Canadian elected to the CWA Board of Directors. He has served CWA as a director, vice president, and chair of the CWA Marketing Communications Awards. Anderson joined the board when he was editor of Equipment Journal, a Canadian publication.
Brenda Aschliman was elected CWA’s 1st vice president. She is director of corporate communications for Walter P Moore, Houston, TX, and has previously served as a CWA director, 2nd vice president, and co-chair of the Publicity and Promotion Committee. Susan Garritano was elected as CWA 2nd vice president. She is public relations manager for McCarthy Building Companies, St. Louis, MO, and previously served CWA as a director and as on-site coordinator for association meetings.
CWA members elected for two years terms as directors include: Johnny Campos, trade press relations, Caterpillar, Inc., Peoria, IL; Christina Fisher, editor of Construction magazine, Charlotte, NC; Catherine Hader, vice president and director of marketing for DMJM Design, Arlington, VA; Marc Ramsey, communications manager for the Surety Information Office, Washington, DC; and Bill Wilson, editorial director of Roads & Bridges and other Scranton-Gillette publications, Arlington Heights, IL.
Immediate Past President Sharon Holling, marketing administrator for trade press relations, Caterpillar, Inc., Peoria, IL, remains on the board. Directors continuing on the board for the coming year include: Tina Grady Barbaccia, senior editor of Aggregates Manager, Des Plaines, IL; Jeri Briegge, public relations manager for Ditch Witch, Perry, OK; Karen Courtney, AIA, director of marketing and senior associate, BSA LifeStructures, Indianapolis, IN; Judy Schriener, independent writer, Columbia, MD; and Jeff White, public relations, Two Rivers Marketing, Des Moines, IA. Continuing as CWA executive director is Sheila Wertz, principal, Berkshire Consulting Group, Buffalo Grove, IL.
