CWA Presents 2008 Website and Electronic Communications Awards in Chicago
Chicago, IL - The Construction Writers Association recently presented its eleventh annual Website and Electronic Communications Awards at the organization’s fall midyear meeting, titled Smart Move-Gaining An Edge, in Chicago. Three awards were presented in three categories—webcast series, press conference, and website. Awards were presented to the winners at the CWA Awards Dinner on Thursday, October 16, 2008, held at the Hotel Allegro.
Entries were evaluated by a panel of judges on quality of content, overall design, use of innovative and accessible technology, navigation, search functionality, interactivity, and meeting stated objectives. Electronic communications were judged on the design, graphics, accessibility, meeting stated objectives, and overall impression. Entries from construction-related individuals, companies, associations, advertising agencies, public relations firms and publications were judged on the effectiveness of their web sites and electronic communications, and on the results these tools generated for the entrants.
"Companies are integrating electronic and web-based marketing with more traditional formats and methods, a trend the CWA jury saw clearly with the 2008 entries. The result is more and better choices for marketers, and easier access to content for the clients, “said Michael Reilly, President, Reilly Communications, chair of the 2008 CWA Website and Electronic Communications Awards Committee.
Award winners were:
- ENR: “ENR.com from ENR”;
- John Deere Construction & Forestry: Electronic Communication for Deere’s CONEXPO Press Conference;
- Building Design and Construction: Webcast Series.
The CWA Website Awards include marketing-oriented websites and other digital media, such as e-newsletters, blogs, podcasts, and streaming video. The competition showcases the best of the best in construction-related communications and is a prestigious acknowledgment that the work of these writers, through their various communication efforts, has met a very high standard of excellence. CWA presents awards at its two major conferences each year.
The Construction Writers Association, founded in 1958, is a non-profit, non-partisan, international organization for journalists, publicists, photographers, and marketing communications professionals serving the information needs of the construction industry.
