KEYNOTE SPEAKERS AT CWA’S ANNUAL CONFERENCE FOCUS ON LINKING MARKETING, COMMUNICATIONS AND BRANDING
March, 2009
Chicago, IL-The Construction Writers Association’s Annual Conference, to be held May 4-6 at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, VA, is titled “Building Connections-Linking Media and People.” And its two keynote presentations will focus on the latest tools to accomplish this concept.
The conference will lead off with Denise Graveline, president of don’t get caught, a communications consulting firm, presenting “Building Connections with Social Media.” Journalism and PR have been redefined by Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and the like. Graveline will discuss the new tools available to writers, editors, marketers and PR professionals, how they are changing how we engage our audiences, and how to use these new tools to achieve their communications goals.
Wednesday’s closing session, “YOU as a Brand,” is the perfect complement to that presentation. Led by Andrea Fitch, president/CEO of Red Carpet Creations, a company dedicated to transforming brand experience from monologue to dialogue. This interactive program is designed to ignite and unlock your personal brand. Attendees will learn techniques on how to differentiate themselves from others in their field, discover tools on how to effectively evaluate their skills and weaknesses and get tips on how to present themselves.
In addition to the two featured presentations, the conference will also include panel discussions on the reauthorization of SAFETEA-LU, top national and international construction projects, ethics in the construction industry, and an editors roundtable with more than a dozen editors of major industry publications. There will also be tours of the Pentagon Memorial and the U.S. Institute of Peace’s new headquarters.
Not to be overlooked is Tuesday night’s CWA Grand Awards Dinner, at which the association’s journalism and photography awards will be presented, along with Silver Hard Hat awards recognizing service to the association and the industry, and the new CWA Hall of Fame inductees.
